Lindner is known for her innovative methods and ongoing mission to learn new approaches to help families. She has advanced training in Sensory Integration, Auditory Integration Training, Therapeutic Listening and Interactive Metronome. Lindner has shared her knowledge by teaching sensory integration at the University of Scranton, presenting to nursing students at Edison State College and physical therapy students at Florida Gulf Coast University and at autism and sensory integration conferences.

Lavan said the school is looking for donations of technology
such as computers and iPads to help with instruction of children
with autism. Anyone interested in donating or who needs more

“It helps them to interact with each other and work on their
social skills,” she said. “All the students had to go up to the
food line and specifically ask for each item they wanted. For the
students with physical disabilities, just getting a plate full of
food and walking back to the table with it is good practice on
motor skills.”

She hopes the site becomes a touchstone for those parents, giving them a chance to discuss the latest treatments, find out what’s working for other families and lean on one another for support.
